DISQUISITION (from dis and quero, I seek), a formal or systematic inquiry into the nature, kinds, and circumstances of any problem, question, or topic, by arguments, or by discussion of the facts and circumstances that may serve to elucidate truth. It is chiefly applied to a written treatise, and is synonymous with dissertation.
