DONGURPORE, in Hindustan, a town, the chief place of a petty native state of the same name, situate in the province of Rajpootana. This territory extends from Lat. 23. 35. to 24. 3., and from Long. 73. 40. to 74. 18. It contains an area of 1000 square miles, and its population is estimated at 100,000. Its chief is descended from a branch of the Odeypore family, whose ancestors became dependent on the emperor of Delhi, and so continued until subjugated by the Mahrattas, from whose yoke the country was rescued by the British. The treaty by which the British connection was established with this state was concluded in 1818. The town of Dongurpore is distant north from Bombay 345 miles. Lat. 23. 50. Long. 73. 50. (E. T.)
