DOROGOBUSH, a town of Russia, capital of a cognominally circle in the government of Smolensk, and 46 miles E.N.E. of the town of that name. It is situated on the left bank of the Dnieper, is surrounded by walls, and had 5677 inhabitants in 1850. On 12th October 1812 the French were defeated here by the Russians.
