ECCLESALL, a market-town of England, in the county of Stafford, on the river Sow, miles W.N.W. of the town of Stafford. It is a neatly built place, and contains a castle, the residence of the bishop of Lichfield. In its church Bishop Halse concealed Queen Margaret when she fled from Muckleston. Market-day Friday. Pop. of parish (1851) 4696.
