ECCLOO, a town of Belgium, province of East Flanders, situated on the high road between Ghent and Bruges, 12 miles N.E. of the former. Pop. (1851), 8884. The town is generally well-built, and has an ancient convent, a town-hall, prison, several churches, and numerous schools. Manufactures—woollen and cotton goods, soap, tobacco, chocolate, and hats; besides distilleries, tanneries, salt refineries, and oil mills. A large weekly market for grain, cattle, &c. is held here.
