ELEUTHEROPOLIS, an ancient episcopal city, situated in the south-western plain of Judea, between Hebron and Askelon. It has been identified by Dr Robinson with the modern Beit-Jibrin, the Betogabra of Ptolemy and the Pentingerian Tables.
