PREEZ, or PREETZ, a market-town of Denmark, in the duchy of Holstein, on the Schwentine, at the foot of a small lake 8 miles E.S.E. of Kiel. Its principal building is the convent, founded in 1216, to which the town owes its origin, and which is now an establishment for unmarried ladies of noble birth. It is connected with the town by a shady walk, and contains a fine church and cloisters. Pop. 4750.
