RANDERS, a town of Denmark, province of Jutland, on the navigable river Guden or Gudenal, at the head of Rander's Fiord, 22 miles N.N.W. of Aarhus, and 111 W.N.W. of Copenhagen. It occupies a position that is both very picturesque and strong in a military point of view; and it contains an arsenal, a grammar school, and a large hospital. Much industry is carried on here, especially in the manufacture of hosiery and brandy. The trade is also considerable; and the fishing of salmon is pursued by many of the inhabitants. Pop.
