RASSOVA, a fortified town of European Turkey, on the right bank of the Danube, at the place where that river turns suddenly to the north, 38 miles E. by N. of Silistria. Near this begins the line of earth-works called Trajan's Wall, stretching across the isthmus of the Dobrudschia to the Black Sea. Rassova was occupied by the Russians for a short time in 1854. Pop. 8000.
