CHICORY, or SUCORY, the wild endive, or Cichorium Intybus of Linnaeus, is a plant that grows wild on calcareous soils in England and most parts of Europe. It was formerly raised to some extent in England as a medicinal herb, but is now almost exclusively employed as a substitute for
