BURSA, or BURSAR (Bursarius, from bursa a purse), is used by the middle-age writers for the treasurer or cash-keeper of a college or monastery.
BURSA also denotes one who receives a small sum out of a purse or fund appropriated for that purpose; as the exhibitors in the Scottish universities.
