CYNANCHUM, a genus of plants of the natural order of Asclepiadææ, the best known of which is a European plant, C. Vincetoxicum, that has drastic purgative qualities, and is considered by Orfila as a poison. Another species, C. Argele, has its leaves often mingled with those of the Egyptian senna, probably from the negligence or ignorance of the native herbalists.
