DAVENTRY, a parish and market-town in the hundred of Fawsley, Northamptonshire, 13 miles N.W. from Northampton. It stands on an eminence near the source of the Avon and Nene, and carries on an extensive manufacture in shoes and whips. Pop. (1851) 4430.
