DIACOUSTICS, called also DIAPHONICS, the consideration of the properties of refracted sound, as it passes through different media. The word is formed from the Greek dia, through, which intimates a passage, and acous, I hear; the consideration of the passage of the sounds which we hear. See ACOUSTICS.
