COLUMBUS, the capital of Muscogee county, state of Georgia, North America, stands on the E. side of the Chattahoochee, immediately below the falls of that river. It has several large cotton and woollen factories and flour mills, and is one of the great commercial centres of Georgia, and a depot of a large extent of rich cotton country. Pop. (1850) 5942.
