COMINES, or COMMINES, a town of Belgium, province of West Flanders, on the left bank of the Lys, 10 miles S.E. of Ypres. Pop. (1850) 3443. On the opposite bank of the river, in the department of Nord, is the French town of this name, with about 3000 inhabitants. The two towns are connected by a drawbridge. The manufactures are ribbons, thread, cottons, &c.
