CONE, a solid body or figure of which the base is a circle, and which diminishes in diameter till it terminates in a point, which is called its vertex. A sugar-loaf is a familiar example. The term is also applied to the conical-shaped fruit of several evergreen trees, as that of the pine, fir, cypress, and cedar.
