CORO, a maritime town of Venezuela, and at one time its capital, but now the capital of a province of its own name. The town is meanly built, with few public edifices; and its trade with the West Indies, formerly considerable, has greatly declined. Pop. probably about 8000. Lat. 11. 23. N.; Long. 69. 48. W.
