CORPUS CHRISTI (i.e. body of Christ), a festival of the Church of Rome, observed on the first Thursday after Trinity Sunday, in honour of the eucharist. It was instituted by Pope Urban IV., A.D. 1264. Corpus Christi is also the name of one of the colleges of Oxford.
