CRAGG, a term applied by English geologists to the superior member of the tertiary formations of England. It is a calcareous rock, very rich in coralline remains, or a sandy deposit containing shells, water-worn pebbles, and occasionally bones of mammals. The formation is included in the pleiocene deposits of Lyell.
