GALDAR, a royal Spanish town in the N.W. of the Island Gran Canaria, beautifully situated five miles from Las Palmas, in a plain, with good air and fine temperate climate. It contains 4052 inhabitants, a church, a monastery a short distance from the town, and six hermitages, numerous ruined houses and caves of the ancient inhabitants, with the ruins of an edifice or palace of the Guanche chiefs.
