GIEN, a town of France, capital of a cognominal arrondissement in the department of Loir-et-Cher, on the right bank of the Loire, here crossed by a handsome stone bridge, thirty-seven miles E.S.E. of Orléans. It has manufactures of serge, leather, and earthenware, and some trade in corn and wine. Pop. (1851) 6036.
