GOES, or TER-GOES, a fortified town of Holland, province of Zeeland, on the island of South Beveland. It has a harbour formed by a short canal communicating with the Scheldt, and carries on an active trade in corn, salt, hops, &c. Shipbuilding is also carried on, but the manufactures are unimportant. Pop. (1850) 5296.
