ALPISTE, or ALPIA, a sort of seed used to feed birds with, especially when they are to be nourished for breeding. The alpieste seed is of an oval figure, of a pale yellow, inclining to an isabel colour, bright and glossy. It is an article of the corn-chandlers and seedmen's trade.
