ALTENBURG, or OWAB, a small but strong town of Hungary, with 3500 inhabitants. It is seated in a marsh, near the river Danube, and is surrounded by deep ditches. It is forty miles south-east of Vienna. Long. 17. 15. E. Lat. 47. 50. N.
