ALTMUHL, a river of Bavaria which rises seven miles north-east of Rothenburg, and flows into the Danube between Ratisbon and Kehlheim, after a course of 150 miles. This river has lately been connected with the Regnitz by the Ludwig Canal, by which means the rivers Rhine and Danube are now united.
