FALLOPIAN TUBES, in Anatomy, two ducts arising from the womb, one on each side of the fundus, and thence extending to the ovaries. They are called tubæ from their form, which bears some resemblance to a trumpet; and derive their denomination of Fallopian from Gabriel Fallopius, who was the first to indicate their use and office.
