RUEIL, or RUEIL, a town of France, in the department of Seine-et-Oise, on the Seine, at the foot of a vine-covered hill, called Mont Valerien, 4 miles N.E. of Versailles. It has a fine church, adorned with a portico and belfry, and containing the remains of Hortense, once queen of Holland, beside those of her mother, the Empress Josephine, whose favourite residence, Malmaison, stands near Rueil.
