SANGA, a town of Japan, in the island of Kioo Sioo,
in a fertile plain at the head of the bay of Simbara, 55 miles
N.E. of Nangasaki. It is large and populous, and en-
circled by fortifications. Its broad, straight streets are tra-
versed by streams and canals. There are here important
manufactures of porcelain.
