HAL, a town of Belgium, province of South Brabant, on the Senne and the Charleroi Canal, 10 miles S.S.W. of Brussels. It has a fine old Gothic church of the fourteenth century, with a famous miracle-working image of the Virgin. The high altar of sculptured marble is said to be unequalled in the Netherlands. Pop.
