SOLOR, a small island in the Malay archipelago of the eastern extremity of Flores, S. Lat. 47., E. Long. 123. 8.

It is 30 miles in length by 15 in breadth, and is partly mountainous and rich in iron. The inhabitants are for the most part Malays. Those on the coast recognise the supremacy of the Dutch, while a portion of the island belongs to the Portuguese.
