SOROCABA, a town of Brazil, in the province, and 50 miles W.S.W. of San Paulo, in a mountainous but fertile district on the River Sorocaba. It contains various manufactures, and in the vicinity there are quarries of flint, and an imperial foundry at Ypanema. Pop. 12,000.
