NAGY-KAROLY, a town of Hungary, in the county of Szathmar, 44 miles N.E. of Grosswardein. It has a large palace and gardens belonging to the dukes of Karoly, a college, school, and linen and cotton factories. Vines, maize, and tobacco are grown in the vicinity. Pop. 12,000.
