MINCHINHAMPTON, a market-town of England, county of Gloucester, and 12 miles S. by E. from the town of that name. It is pleasantly situated on a gentle declivity of the Cotswold Hills, but is irregularly built. The parish church is a large cruciform edifice surmounted by an octagonal tower. There are several dissenting places of worship, and national and other schools. The inhabitants are chiefly employed in the cloth manufacture, which forms the staple of an extensive district. Pop. of parish (1851), 4469.
