ANTIPHLOGISTIC (from ἀντί and φλόγξις, inflammation), is a term applied in medicine to the treatment of inflammation by the abstraction of blood, either local or general, the use of purgatives, nauseants, diaphoretics, refrigerants, &c., according to the exigencies of the case.
