ARMAGNAC, a small territory of France, in the old province of Gascony, now forming a part of the departments of Gers, Haut Pyrenees, and Tarn and Garonne. It gave a title to the descendants of the ancient dukes of Gascony and Aquitaine. The counts of Armagnac bore a conspicuous part in the wars of France and England in the fifteenth century.
