ASCLEPIAD, in Ancient Poetry, a verse composed of four feet, the first a spondee, the second a choriambus, and the last two dactyls; or of four feet and a cæsuræ, the first a spondee, the second a dactyl and cæsuræ, then two dactyls; as, Mæcenas atavis edite regibus.
