BEERALSTON, a borough-town in the county of Devon, hundred of Roborough, and parish of Beerferris, near the confluence of the Tavy with the Tamar, 215 miles from London. It formerly returned two members to parliament, who were chosen by the holders of ancient burghs; and as there were few houses, the elections of members were held under a large tree. Near it are four lead mines, which occasionally yield a small quantity of silver. Pop. of parish in 1851, 3401.
