BELESIS, a Chaldean priest at Babylon, who, according to Ctesias, conspired against Sardanapalus, and, in conjunction with Arbaces the Mede, overthrew the Assyrian empire, B.C. 876. He afterwards obtained from Arbaces the satrapy of Babylon. (Diodorus, ii.)
