BELSHAZZAR, the last king of Babylon, generally supposed to be the son of Evilmerodach, and grandson to Nebuchadnezzar. See Daniel, chap. v. It may be noticed that Xenophon's account (Cyropæd. viii. 5, 30) agrees with the Book of Daniel as to the fate of Belshazzar.
