BLONDÉL, François, an eminent architect, born at Ribeumont in Picardy, A.D. 1617. He was employed in various negotiations; arrived at the dignity of maréchal-de-camp and counsellor of state; and instructed the dauphin of France in mathematics. He was also made member of the Academy of Sciences, and director of the Academy of Architecture. He died at Paris in 1688.
