BABYLONICA TEXTA, a rich sort of weavings or hangings, so called from the city of Babylon, where the art of interweaving divers colours in hangings or tapestry was first practised. Hence also Babylonian garments, Babylonian skins, Babylonian carpets, housings, &c.
