ISLE OF PINES, an islet in the South Pacific, lying S. of New Caledonia in S. Lat. 22. 38., E. Long. 167. 25. It is about 42 miles in circumference, and is covered with luxuriant vegetation. In 1853 the French took possession of it along with New Caledonia.
