JEZIREH-EL-OMAR (the ancient Bazebea), a town of Asiatic Turkey, on a low sandy island in the Tigris, 120 miles E.S.E. of Diarbekr. The island is about 3 miles in circumference and is almost entirely occupied by the town, which is surrounded by a low stone wall, now very much fallen into decay.
