Jidda. governor of the N.W. provinces. It has an area of 1230 square miles, and a population of about 110,000. This principality was assigned by Lord Lake to Nijabut Ally Khan, of the Bhuiratch family, in consideration of his services against the Mahrattas from whom it was taken; and in 1806 the grant was confirmed in perpetuity by the governor-general to Fyze Ally Khan; the present Nawab, and grandson of the original grantee, succeeded in 1835.
