MARCH, a market-town in the Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire, England, is situated on both sides of the Old Nene, 13 miles N.W. of Ely, and 32 miles N. by W. of Cambridge. The town consists of two main but narrow streets, and the houses are low and ill-built. The church is a fine old building of the fourteenth century, and there are also Baptist and Independent places of worship, and national schools. The River Nene, which is here crossed by a bridge, is navigable to the town, and affords it the means of carrying on a considerable trade in corn, hemp, flax, coal, timber, &c. Market-day, Friday.
