Paulicians. PAUL, St., an island in the Indian Ocean, S. Lat. 38. 44, E. Long. 77. 38, about 9 miles long, by 5 broad. It seems to be of volcanic origin; for it contains hot springs, and an old crater, now filled with water and abounding in fish. The island is covered with a stunted vegetation, and has good anchorage at the E. side.
