PEGAU, a town of Saxony, in the circle of Leipzig, on the left bank of the Elster, 14 miles S.S.W. of Leipzig. It is surrounded by walls; and its chief public building is the handsome church of St Lawrence, containing several monuments. Pop. 3946.
