YVERDUN, a town of Switzerland, canton of Vaud, at the S. extremity of Lake Neuchâtel, 17 miles N. of Lausanne. Its principal edifice is an old castle, in which Pestalozzi established his celebrated educational institute in 1805. It has a church, town-hall, deaf-mute institution, and a considerable trade in French wines. Pop. 3619.
