TORO ARBUCALL, a town of Spain, Leon, in the province and 21 miles E. of Zamora, on the Douro, which is crossed by a fine bridge. It is an ancient, decaying town, surrounded with earthen walls, and entered by several gates. The streets are dirty and in bad repair. The chief buildings are an old palace, a handsome but unfinished town-hall, a theatre, and numerous churches. Toro has also schools and hospitals, flour-mills, distilleries, brick and tile works, tanneries, and some trade in almonds, grain, and millstones. Pop. 6897.
